The Company
Dees Opened in 1963, Dee’s of Trongate is an independent, retro clothing retailer in Glasgow with an excellent reputation for selling the “wears of the day” whatever the style and era!
Renowned for selling distinctive clothing styles including Mods, Skinhead and Punk, Dee’s of Trongate are proud to have survived the years, where competitors have failed.
Togging out generations of Mods, Rockers, Rockabillies, Skinheads, Soul Boys, Scooterists, and Rude Boys, we’ve been single-handedly clothing the city’s style tribes for the last 58 years. From Merc of London to Dr Marten; Gabicci to Trojan, if you can name it, we stock it.
Dee History
Born from a love of fashion and music, Dee of Trongate was built in 1958 with one thing in mind - to bring the best fashions of the era to the masses. Gone are the days of expensive Mod attire, our aim is to unite all subcultures of this wonderful era with affordable items and iconic brands. After all, it’s a way of life!
Dee Story
Whilst our roots are firmly in Glasgow, our Dee family are located across the globe with some of our customers literally crossing oceans to get to us. As time has moved on, so have Dee's, we thought - an online store would be of help. All of your favourite brands that Dee's are known for, just online!
Dee Vision
What started as a high-end culture of Italian tapered suits and Carnaby Street fashions, Mod fashion then splintered into separate subcultures - most notably the Hard Mods or Skinheads in the ’60s. Since then the style and culture have evolved and changed with many offshoots appearing over the years. Dee of Trongate is here to celebrate it all.
The Brief
Having an e-commerce store was something Dee’s of Trongate had always considered and when the pandemic closed their store for six months, the team realised they had to reap the same benefits as other businesses and follow the “online” trend. They needed an online store that would entice customers and generate a steady income.
Partnering with Be on Purpose for their e-commerce solution seemed the right thing for Dee’s of Trongate especially when they met owner, Graham. Appreciating his ideas and easy to understand language, they knew that he would be able to meet their objectives and provide the right website for them.
Having an e-commerce site has achieved massive benefits for Dee’s of Trongate. Not only do they now have a steady income from online sales but the footfall to their store has increased considerably. One customer travelled one and a half hours from Perth to the store in Glasgow having seen the products advertised online - something that wouldn’t have happened before the website was created. They have also had orders from Belfast, Portsmouth, Dublin and London.
